Nephi Allred’s CD “Red Clark” is an eleven-song offering with class and lasting listen-ability. Listeners have compared it to Garth Brook’s first album in that regard.
In June, he was invited to entertain the VIP’s at the America First Pavilion at Rio Tinto Stadium, before and at halftime of a Real Salt Lake match. He performed for an hour and a half. “The owner wanted a singing cowboy,” Nephi notes. They got one. Nephi not only writes his own songs and sings them, he is a bull rider of impressive ability.
He rides in Senior Pro Rodeo events (for bull riders age 40 and above) and draws some tough rides. In January this year he drew a Honeycutt bull and was rewarded with a cracked hip that put him of rodeo action for two months. But that gave him time to complete his album (by April, 2015), and he’s back on the bulls now, most recently competing in the Fernley, Nevada, rodeo, where he drew another tough ride on a son of former Bull of the Year, “Little Yellow Jacket.”
Friday night, August 14th, Nephi performed as a finalist in the SaltCitySuperstars.com competition, one of four who made it to the end.
